Integrated Amp for harsh sounding mp3 playback?

Hiya all,

Got Mission M51s and a el cheapo mp3 cd player. Got a 30 RMS Marantz PM4000 amp but I think I should upgrade.
Mp3 files generally are harsh sounding, should I go for Rotel RA-02 or Denon 1055R?
Which would work best?

Thanks in advance

You might want to consider buying a good CD/DVD player and seeing how much that affects the sound. MP3s can only sound so good, but some player/receiver combos do better jobs than others.

Hiya,

Forgot to add- I already have a dedicated system with NAD components. This set up is for the bedroom only.

Thanks

Well, if your Marantz PM 4000 is already too bright sounding for you (with MP3 files) then a Rotel RA-02 should not be on your list.
Try a NAD C320BEE or Arcam diva 65 which are really smooth sounding amps.
