Alright, I need help deciding between the Wharfedale 8.2 or the Infinity Alpha 20 speakers.

I'm setting up a stereo system with an old (but nice) Marantz SR325 (paid $25.) receiver for a small room.

Budget is a big issue. The Wharfedale's are about $200. the Infinity's about $140.

Please help.

I like the Wharf better - read favorable reviews on it :

If bent on getting the infi, the beta sounds better than alpha for $200 on the web.

I realize the Wharf's are more of an "audiophile" speaker, but both reviews seem pretty good, and there is a pretty big price difference.

See this review:http://www.hifichoice.co.uk/review_print.asp?ID=1108

I think i'd rather go for the Infinity's and wait for the Wharf Diamond 9's to come stateside.

Hifi choice only gave 3 stars out of 5 which is not too good - that's what the stars on top means. You can google search and find many professional reviews praising the Wharfe.

But it's your toy, you gotta be happy...

4.4 for the Infinity's & 4.57 for the Wharfs on the ecoustic user reviews...very close, the Wharfs still will out.

$60.+ in my pocket might make all the difference.

I don't see the down side $140. devilivered, this is a bedroom system after all.

I'm buying the Infinity's. Thanks for the help.

Christopher,

please get back with your impressions on the Infinitys after they arrive. I'm considering them as rears.

I just got my Infinity Alpha 20's. I haven't hooked them up yet, but boy they're nice looking & seem to be very well built. I'll report back after I've listened to them.
