Sony RCD-W500C

I have a question, I want to record from a mixer/soundboard. I record for bands and the audio is what they want me to get right, I do videos but I have a built in mic and it is ok but backgroun noises etc does not make a great audio sounding video, so I figured how about if I got a cd recorder a stand alone unit like the Sony RCD-W500C and connect directly from the houses soundboard/mixer the bands depend on to perform.

I did that and here it is the way it sounded maybe someone knows why it sounds like a bad drunk night Koroke night. The lead singer is basically the one I hear and the band is back, way back. help me here. Do I need more items to do this? I did not think so.
