I've been reading the forum for a while now and thinks its time to replace my Yamaha 80's vintage C-2/M-2 (preamp/amp) with a home theater receiver. The receiver will be used for both music and home theater. I have Klipsch speakers and would like some recommendations on what receiver would compliment them. I've always liked Yamaha but want the best receiver for the money. I have a budget of $600-700. Thanks in advance.

As far as this years models, you could try the Yamaha RX-V1400 or RX-V2400 in that price range. Also, the Marantz SR5400 or SR6400. Harman Kardon AVR430 or AVR630.

They are all good buys, however, the Klipsch speakers would most likely sound very different with each unit.

Hi,

I just got a new receiver with 2 front speakers. what would you suggest to get next? (i'm on a tight budget).... should i get a sub or center channel?

About the center channel, should it match the brand of my fronts?

How important is the center channel?

Thanks for the advice. I was leaning toward the Yamaha 1400/2400 but I've read so many posts stating Yamaha/Klipsch aren't the best combination.
