My friend has entrusted me with buying him a theater system and I'm thinking of purchasing speakers around the HK 7300. I'm reading that Monitors, Paradigm, Def Tech and Polk are the best speakers for the HK. Would anyone disagree? Any to add to this list? Any commentary around strengths and weaknesses of these choices would be very helpful.
I won't disagree with your selection But others will disagree with Paradigms paired with HK, a little on the warm side. The key thing is what does your friend like? What is he/she used to listening?
Wharfedale could be added to the list as well as Tannoys. I think you are on the right track with the selections. I have listened to the H/K 430 paired with Wharfedale Diamond 8.3, Def Tech BP7004, and Tannoy Fusion 4. They all paired well with this receiver. The edge goes to Def Tech by a large margin, but considering the fact that the Wharfedale speakers what i have) are priced at $360 a pair and the Tannoys $640 pair i don't think you could do much better if any at that price range.
