I am having a very dificult time deciding between the ONKYO 701 and the Harman Kardon 430. I can get either one for essentially the same price, so cost is not an issue. I will be using the receiver with a POLK 6700 sat speaker system and a BIC 1010R Powerred sub. Any help you can offer will be greatly appreciated. For the record, I have had both at home and they both have stengths and weaknesses, but perhaps in your experience you may raise an issue that I am overlooking...

Thanks!

I'm in the market right now and the guys at the 3 local electronic stores all say the Onkyo 701 has better sound quality and the added benefit of THX certification. I listened to both tonight while wathing Pirates of the Caribbean using the same cable connections and the Onkyo did perform better for these novice ears. I'm told no HK currently offers THX, but I've yet to verify this myself.

HK AVR 8000 is a THX Ultra certified.

my vote goes to the Onkyo. the H/K is a good receiver but it sounds flat and fake to me. But that is just my opinion.
