check your speaker connections for shorted wires. or if you have been using a lower impedance speakers other than what your receiver is rated for, then you may have caused the receiver into protect mode permanently. Which means, it may have been fried.
What kind of receiver is it?

model no.? How old is it?
what kind of speakers are you using...are they 8 ohms or 4
unhook the speaker wires from both ends then use the multi meter for continuity on the wires, if there is...then you have a short.
