It runs ok for a minute, but after 1 minute it goes black again.. I've restarted it from cold shut down 4 times now... same thing happens. always after 1 minute. Any suggestions? |

Posted on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 - 19:16 GMT go into the control panel... power options... look for hibernate... uncheck if it is checked. also go to power schemes and in there you can change many settings as well. If you don't want the hibernation settings to off ... you can change them to a certon time to go into hibernation...etc if this doesn't change anything please let me know and we will figure out what else to try Good luck |

Posted on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 - 20:35 GMT Hello Doreen, I checked the hibernate situation and it was turned off. So, I attached another monitor and it also went black. I then restarted and pressed f-8 to find that it came up in dos ok... I deduced it could either be an overheat problem or a program problem. Either way there was a problem with the video card. I shut down the laptop, took out the battery, removed both 1 gb rams, exchanged positions and restarted. still black. I then removed one, restarted, black. I then exchanged them, and restarted...and it worked. I then double checked to make sure it wasn't just the card slot (it wasn't) One card doesn't work at all. I will purchase another 1 gb simm asap. Problem solved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pass this one on!!!!!!! |
