Can anyone diagnose a problem with my amp?

Hello Everyone,

I have ordered a new Alpine amp and sub setup, but I want to know what is wrong with my old amplifier. It is a small Alpine Flex2.

Anyways, it is not giving any output. I put a voltmeter on the amp, and it is getting power but the LED light on the amp never comes on. There is no power coming out of the amp either.

Now I am kind of worried. I ordered a new amp and sub thinking that the amp is the problem (because the light doesn't come on) but is it possible that the subwoofer preout on my deck could be shot? But shouldn't the amp power on anyways? I am confused . . .

My deck is an Alpine CDA-7863 or something like that. . .

Thanks for the help!

the amp is bad. probably a FET rails or power supply.
make sure the subs are ok and not what shorted out the amp.

That sounds good . . . I was hoping that the amp was bad. It is worthless anyways. I was just worried that my head unit could be broken . . .

My sub is worthless too. It is just a crappy 10" Sony XPlod. I am due for a new sub and amp anyways, so if my current amp is blown, then that is not a problem :-)

Regards,
Bryan
