I don't know where you got that wiring diagram from joe durkham, but the Ford escort stereo wiring is the same from 1994-1996. This is the correct wiring diagram provided by www.the12volt.com:

Constant 12V+: Green/Yellow
Switched 12V+: Yellow/Black
Ground: Red
Illumination: Blue/Red
Dimmer: N/A
Antenna Trigger: N/A
Antenna: Driver's Pillar

Front Speakers 5 1/4" Doors

Left Front (+): Orange/Green
Left Front (-): Blue/Light Green
Right Front (+): White/Green
Right Front (-): Green/Yellow

Rear Speakers 4" Side Shelves

Left Rear (+): Pink/Green
Left Rear (-): Pink/Blue
Right Rear (+): Pink/Blue
Right Rear (-): Green/Orange

Kc use this infos as a reference only. Always use a multimeter to check your voltages before connecting anything. You can find those easily and as cheap as $10.

Interesting. Could it be possible the Ford may have have 2 differen't types of stereos in the Escort at this time? Either way, one of these have to be correct.

See if this specific infos match Kc's car:

Kc you can buy a 2 piece harness:

Check your car to look for differences with these:
