I am running a SoundStream Reference 500SX for highs and a Crossfire VR600D for my subs, pushing 2 Infinity Perfect 12.1D.
Now, I am running 4 gauge from my battery to a distribution block (10') then then 2 8 gauge from the block to each amp (3')
Do I have a bad setup going? I am being told that my Crossfire amp can go into a DC lock or something like that I and stand the chance of burning up my subs if that happened. This is from my amp repair guy. It just does not seem feesable. I am so hopeing he is wrong and want some insight.
The Crossfire is a Class D, mono block, digital amp. Pushin 600 old school watts. I have it at 1/2 gain. My soundstream Reference 500sx is 500 watts RMS.
so 1,100 watts total. you'll need 2 gauge or larger cable for power to the distribution block. then split it at the amps to 8ga or 4ga to each amp depending on what the amp can take at the terminal.
that 4ga is just a bit on the small side for that much power.. unless you never turn the system up all the way. then you should be fine.
