Important to note is the rms watts ! If you are going to buy the hIfonics system then the dual 4 ohms subs will do, wiring both sub to a 1 ohm load with a total rms of 1200 watts.

The amp you shown on the link is more than capable to power both subs at 1 ohm load, but you will have to turn down the amp gain a bit to suit the subs, as the amp is rated at 1600 watts rms at 1 ohm load.

Generally, the rms of the amp should be higher than the rms of the sub or subs.

So are the two twelve inch 4ohm subs are overwhelming on a monoblock amp, so should I go with a 2 channel?

David that amp would be fine on those subs. Hifonics amps are a little overrated anyway. Just make sure to set your gain correctly an you should be good to go.

Also..you might want to check this amp out too.
Great amp for the price!
