Posted on Tuesday, August 10, 2010 - 08:15 GMT I have a 1991 Plymouth Laser, and the alternator only puts out 90 amps. I've got a new battery in it, and I chose a step up from what was in it before, but nothing crazy. I just bought two 12" Rockford Fosgate P3 subwoofers and a Hifonics Brutish 1200 watt amp. The subs and amp are wired at 1 ignore, so the amp will draw 1200 watts rms at 1 ohm. I have not installed the amp in my car yet, as I am scared that I wi ruin my alternator. I was wondering if there's anything I can do to prevent my alternator from going bad. I looked online, and there isn't a high output alternator for my car. Will I be able to use this amp with my current charging system? If not, what can I do? |
