WIRING KIT:

Ryvac Designs complete 4 guage wiring kit.

It says: akit42 600 watt system power (silver level)
Contents:
18ft (5.5m) red power cable
3ft (o.9m) blackground cable
16ft (5.0m) rca cable and remote
32ft of clear 16 guage speaker cable
in line pgu fuseholder and 60a fuse
assoreted gold terminals and ties

One last thing, the sub box has a two banana plug imput for - & +

But the speaker is a dual coil that has 4 connections - & + and - & + I was thinking maybe I should just drill a hole and glue a piece of thick speaker wire in there?

How "should" you or how "do" you?

Start to finish basically. But my main concern is if I can use the amp with the single banana plug box and one dual voice coil speaker rated at 2x 4 ohms and how I would wire it.

The sub is going to run at 2 ohm off the amp. You're going to run a power wire from the battery to the trunk. You need to ground the amp to the trunk/frame in the back. Run your rca cables to the trunk opposite side of the power wire. It's rather straight forward. To wire your sub at 2 ohm, just run pos. to pos. and neg. to neg.

Thanks for your help I really appreciate it. I've been reading up and yes I found it's fairly simple. My main questions now are:

Do I need a ring connectors for the battery terminal?

Do I connect to the battery or the alternator?

What is an estimate rms of my amp? (can't find any solid info on the net) It has two 40a fuses says 3000w on the case specs online say 2400 watt.

And because the speaker is a dual voice coil I put pos to pos and neg to neg and then I took a piece of wire and went imbetween the pos & neg of the other connection on the speaker. Is that what I should have done? How does it effect the resistance? (ohms)

I just looked over the dvc wiriing schematics and realized that my setup was wrong. I will wire it properly for 2 ohm resistance.

Use ring terminals to connect your wires. Don't connect directly to the alt. Connect your power wire to the positive terminal of the battery. Now if you have any wire left over, you can upgrade a new positive wire directly from your alt to your battery. Also upgrade the negative ground from your battery to the chassis of the car and from the engine block to the chassis of the car. This is really simple, normally you have stock grounds so you just replace what is already there. This is known as the big 3. It helps to make your grounding and alt more efficient and will help with voltage drops. Be sure to use atleast 4 guage if you do this, 1/0 guage is actually best. My friend has a 99 civic and his wires were all out in the open and easy as pie to change. Your amp is going to do 800 rms at a 2 ohm load on 14.4 volts of power according to the manual. Of course voltage is going to be ever changing, that is why the big 3 is nice in keeping your volts up as high as possible. Here is how to wire a singal 4 ohm to a 2 ohm load:

Man, looks like I'm going to have to open it up and rewire it again. I set it up for an 8 ohm load on accident. This is why I'm glad I asked for help though ;)

Thanks for the tip on replacing the big 3. I'll definitely do that. Ring terminals on these as well? I havn't looked at them yet I'm guessing I match whatever they have but with thicker gauge wire.

Are there any factory holes in the firewall for civic so I don't have to drill through?

And at 800 rms with dual 4 Ohm 1000 watt speaker will there be any liklihood of blowing the speaker. Should I be careful how high I turn it up. I'm not sure how easy it will be to hear a speaker go past distortion from the trunk.

Where did you find the manual? I searched everywhere.

I just searched the name and model number, the google list came up and then on one of the sites who were selling the amp, they had a link to the manual. Here is the link:

http://www.qualitycaraudio.com/store/manuals/LA3090D.pdf

For the big 3 use ring terminals as well. You can pick them up at a local car audio shop but shop around for a decent price on them. If you do 4 guage they shouldn't be too much but when you do 1/0 guage the price seems to go up. I paid $3 each for 1/0 guage ring terminals which I thought was fair so you can judge on that I suppose.

I can't find your sub online for specs but when it says 1000 watts I'm assuming it is 500 rms max. If you run this amp at 2 ohms at 800 rms you should be ok. The amp may not supply all of that 800 rms it is rated at doing so it should push your sub nicely, without damaging it. What can and will damage it is two things. One is having the gain (input sensitivity) set too high and/or an inproperly built enclosure. Do you already have an enclosure for your sub?

Thanks for the link.

I found a box of 4 4guage ring terminals for something like 2.65 at home depot.

If it's 500 max and the amp pushes 800 couldn't that blow the speaker?

I'm not sure on the gain and all that but I'll set it down a bit until I figure it all out.

Yeah I wired the speaker for a 2 ohm load and it's in a pro bend competition band pass enclosure exactly like this:

<img src="http://images.craigslist.org/3ne3kf3oe5Q55W65R0a3m591ac247f9a21ed1.jpg">

I soldered the wire where it connects to the inner terminals.

Oh I found out where to wire the power cord by the way. People were talking about underneath the velcro square on the passenger side firewall. It's actually to the left of that with bundled cables. I used a coat hanger and pushed threw then sucked the power cord in. It's already perfectly sealed this way no need for a grommit ;) Now I need to figure out how to run the rest of the wire under the plastic near the sides and how to get behind the stereo.

This is all I could find on the sub:

Hey Doobie you still around? I'm still wondering about the rms. In any case I wanted to let you know I got it all setup seamlessly it sounds great. Last thing I need to do is deaden the trunk rattle and mount the amp. I decided to drill small holes in the metal rods that lay inside the 2/3 seat between the back seat and trunk. Then drill holes in 4 corners of the amp and zip tie it into place.

Hey man sorry I've been pretty busy lately. I'll put up some pictures and/or video asap. I mounted the amp on the 2/3rd door as planned. it worked out pretty well. Now I'll be grouping the cords into a corregated pipe to try and keep things situated. I still havn't done much to deaden the trunk just put some cloth around the latch which has it almost taken care of. When I do post pics / vid can I do it through the ecoustics site will they show up right in the forum? Or can I only send links to say youtube and photobucket?
