Im going to purchase 2 DC level 3's, and I need a good amp to power them. These are becoming daily drivers, and I don't want to overpower or ruin the subs.

Any suggestions?

go with at least rated power on them....buy a pair of dual 4 ohm subs and an audioque 1200.1

I heard some rumors that buying a more powerful amp and turning down the gain was a better option?

If you turn down the gain the amp wouldn't have to work at its full potential to power the subs, whereas the aq1200d would have to work at its full potential because the lvl 3's are 600 rms and what more from what i hear.

Suggestions?

I was thinking of getting the hifonics bxi1610d

or the aq1200d

Thanks!

Alright, what about a sundown 1500d?

Would it be better to save the money and get the aq1200d?

Same thing as above, the amp wouldn't have to work as hard to power the subs correct?
