12" kicker l7 blew on a 2400 watt legacy predator amp

my friend has a 2400 watt legacy predator(piece of crap i already kno) it says its 600rms at 2 ohm load. well anyways he put a 12 kicker l7 which is 750 rms on that amp and it blew.tons of smoke and locked up and everything. im jus curious how?

the sub smoked up? he probably sent a heavly clipped signal to it which will kill any sub even if it is underpowered.

DISTORSION!

legacy isnt a quality brand... They have lots of distorsion. (not to mention they are way over rated on power) If you distort a speaker it will over heat & cristalize the coil..... I useto do that all the time when I first got into car audio. (till I learned better)

Wow, you'd really have to clip that thing all to hell to burn up a 750w sub.

Let me guess - Level max, bass boost max, HU volume max.
I'm surprised the sub gave in before the amp did.
