My friend shawn has a 3000 watt booss amp (yes I know it's crap I even told him but it's all he has at the moment) that is running 2 12" Kicker L7 subs. The problem is that after he drives around for about 10 min he melts his distributin block. His amp only draws 90 amps which is only about 1243 watts or something like that and he has an 80 amp fuse in his distribution block. does anyone have an idea why it keeps melting. He has 1/0 guage wiring from his battery to his trunk that goes into the distribution block to a 4 guage wire that goes to his amp. He has 4 guage ground.

Mabey it doesnt have to do with the wire (sounds good to me with the 1/0 ga to 4ga) but look at where it is places it might need to be moved because the area its in gets to much heat. Just an Idea.

His distribution block is away from any other sources of heat suck as the amp. Maybe it is poor quality? I dunno. He paid $80 for it at a local car dealership that has a good reputation so far.

He may have a short somewhere at teh block causing the generated heat.

with a clamp on meter you can measure the current draw at that block.
