I read somewhere online that i should not mount my amp (USAMPS MD3D 3000x1@1) to any grounded metal. It said something about the amp grounding through the case instead of through the ground wire and this being problematic. Is there any truth to this? i have my amp mounted to the back of the cab (behind rear seat) of my crew cab truck. i have 0GA hot and ground wires.

Thanks,
Ross

if it concerns you, either use a sheet of plywood between the amp and cab, or use rubber grommet stand-offs to isolate the amp from both grounding out and from metal resonance.

Should it concern me? If it isn't hurting anything being screwed into the back of the cab then i would like to leave it as is...

Personally I prefer to isolate my amplifiers for a number of reasons, including the grounding issue as well as reducing fatigue due to metal resonance transfering through the amplifier and causing premature wear on the SMT components and solder points on the PCBs in the gear.
