Ive heard the kicker is more than reliable, but my search has shown me the hifonics as cheaper w/ more RMS watts

any other amp suggested are welcome

" the hifonics as cheaper w/ more RMS watts "

Um how can I say this......... WRONG

The kicker is underrated. The hifonics is overrated, that amp does ~1200w. The kicker will do a little more than rated.

The kicker is without a doubt the better amp. Also be sure you order the sub with the proper coils for the amp you select.

Be REAL careful when looking at hifonics benchtests. They are known to test at really high THDs i.e. 5% which is slight clipping........

I would go with the Kicker

And Honestly, I dont trust any bench test unless it came straight from the company that way with the amp

I would get the kicker amp if price doesn't matter.

Do you have a budget, because if you want to spend a couple more bucks i would go with a MMATS D2000.1 . Only reason i suggest this is because there are great quality. Kicker is also a good amp but they dont come with 3 YEAR WARRANTYS like mmats !!!!

Lanzar Optdrive amps are solid. The non-opti class D's are generally ok on a budget. The other stuff is WAAAY over-rated - there's a bargain here and there, but those are budget amps and you should know that before you consider buying one.

Sony's will produce rated power (RMS, not max), but their reliablity is questionable.

Crunch's GP sub amps produce a lot of power for the cost, but like lanzar, the majority of their stuff is over-rated with questionable reliability.

it should be pointed out that the Kicker does 1600-1800w at 2 ohms.
The HF does 1200-1400w at 1 ohm, 900-1000w at 2.

"And Honestly, I dont trust any bench test unless it came straight from the company that way with the amp"

I thought that was a backasswards opinion when I read it. Personally the only test I consider "official" is when it's done by an independent shop. Coincidentally I came across this just this morning...

you wont necessarily need a new alt for 1500wrms, it depends on the car. some people can send that and a lil more no problem. all depends on the car. my truck as a stock 136amp alt FTW

Also, if your charging system is having trouble supporting the current demands of the amplifier(s) then turn down the gain or use the volume control knob carefully and you'll be fine.
