Right now I have a hifonics bxi2006 amp and its rated at 2000wrms at 1ohm and I want get 0 gauge wire but the power connector says its only big enough to fit a 2 gauge wire. Is there any way to connect the 0 gauge wire to this?

I have seen that 2 gauge should be enough for 2000w but most kits I find that are 2 gauge say theyre only good enough up to 1500w.

That amp is overrated, it will only do 1500-1600w

So yes 2 gauge wire would work for it. But you may as well do it right and use 0 gauge. You should be able to stuff it into the terminal.

well what I am saying is will it be worth it to upgrade from a 4 gauge to a 0 gauge wire in the short run? Will there be a significant difference in the amount of power my amp can now put out?

I know it wont really cost that much to upgrade, but if I can save my money Id like to. I just want to know if I am getting the full potential out of my amp, whatever that might be.

You will need to upgrade, sooner or later. The sooner the better. It will put out a little more power (less voltage drop. Don't forget about added resistance from the 4 awg heating up with too much current), and your amp will run cooler, meaning it will last longer. I'd do it now.

No you won't get an increase in power output. You do need bigger wire though, thats amp is a bit too much for 4 gauge.

ok thanks. so I do plan on upgrading to 0 gauge wire and eventually upgrading the amp. I have an 18" RD Alpha which is rated at 2000wrms, so what would be a good amp to power this? Something like 2500-3000w?

2ohm dvc..so its running at 1 ohm..I dont think that kicker would work because its at 2 ohm I think

You are correct. These amps would work great:

American Bass VFL-200.1
RF t20001bd
Atomic 2000.1

and others

What if I just combined an additional amp with the amp I have now?

that amps is fine.400-500 watts will not make a difference to the human ear.when your running that kinda power.would just be a waiste of money.

You can't run 2 different amps to 1 sub

What if you powered each coil separatly, that would be possible... but it would not be very practical

you can use an amp per coil. You just need to be careful at the time you're setting them
