Do I need a different amp or box?

I have a Vega Stroker 124 in a ported box tuned at 32hz. I'm powering with a MA Audio HK1998 (1200rms @ 2ohms). Even with the low pass filter turned off frequencies like 808 tom hits aren't being pushed at all. I can hear the sub make the note but it's not being amplified like the low frequencies. I also have the headunit (Kenwood Excellon KDC-X990) set to through LPF so the frequency should be reaching the amp but yeah the notes aren't bumping like they should. Songs like TI - Top Back should bump through all the tom hits but they're not being bumped at all. The low hits are really loud but then there's nothing above a low 808 tom being bumped. My last system easily banged through all 808 toms (Kenwood dB+ 12s and excellon amp) but this new system isn't doing anything except bumping maybe 250hz and down.

Will a good amp resolve the issue or do I need to rethink the setup completely?

LMAO 250 hz is still way too high........ you don't want subs playing anything above ~70 hz. Thats wher the amp's low pass filter should be set.......
