I had it wired to 1 ohm for a while and either the sub or the amp wont do it anymore. I wired it for 4 ohms and the speaker sounds fine although underpowered. I want to upgrade without spending a grip and I appreciate all your help... Thanks |

Gold Member Username: 420alldaylongPost Number: 3163 Registered: Sep-06 | The punch 500a2 is 4ohm stereo,2ohm stereo,4ohm mono bridged so thats why. That sub will be fine on the amp you have now. Subs can take more power than they recommend if its unclipped power.(clean power) Take a look at the Soundstream t4-12" I posted above it will match up great with the ZX750.1 and they are cheap at the moment so if I was you I would jump on it. What size box is the L5 in right now?(Sealed or vented if vented what is the box tuned at. |

It was wired 2ohm and my amp would be smokin hot. It barely gets warm now that its wired at 4ohm. Is this an amp or sub issue? |

Bronze Member Username: StevilPost Number: 20 Registered: Jan-08 | I dont know if this matters but my 500a2 is OLD. Like 10 years. I had a 10" L7 in a 1 cf sealed box for a couple years and loved it but fried one of the tinsel leads. I was told this was because of underpowering and too much gain. |

That amp is stable at 4 ohms bridged and you were giving it an impedance lower than that, so that is why it started to crap out on you. |
