Hello. I'm kinda new to this and have a few questions. I'm looking at this amp
http://india.kenwood.com/products/car/amplifiers/kac-9103d/index.html

And want to hook it up with
http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/products/product.php?model=SWR-1242D

My questions are:

I don't know if I want 1 12" or 2 12". If I got 2 I would hook em up like this right?
http://www.crutchfield.com/learningcenter/car/subwoofers_wiring.html?suboptions= Mono%5F2%2D4ohm%2DDVC&amptype=mono

And if I hooked them up like that each sub would be getting 250WRMS correct?

If so is their a way to wire 1 2ohm/4ohm or 2 2ohm/4ohm subs so that they will be pulling 1ohm from the amp?

The reason for this setup is my old stuff got stolen and I have to go to best buy to get my stuff, because of insurance. This kenwood seems to be the best that they have.

I have never used kenwood. Are their amps any good? How about this one?

Thanks for taking the time to read and post.

Well, If you must go to BB, Get the Rockford Amp and 2 Dvc 4ohm Alpine Type R's. That will wire down to 1 ohm. That set up is only if the RF amp is 1 ohm stable. If not you could use the same subs with the kenwood. Or get d dvc 2 ohm alpines type r's and run em with the RF at 2 ohms.

Hope that makes sence to you.

FYI Kenwood amps suck @ss....... one of the worst brands I've seen. So definitely don't get that.

Yea I'm pretty much stuck with going to Best buy. For some odd reason my insurance company sent my claim there ><. I'm trying to weasel out of it but I dunno.

So I have decided that I'm just going with one Alpine Type R.

The only Rockford they have are:
http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/products/product_details.asp?cat_id=2&series_id=6 &family_id=19&item_id=108232&locale=en_US&p_status=

Which seems to be way to much money. How is that amp compared to the Kenwood?

What about this one?
http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/products/product_details.asp?cat_id=2&series_id=6 &family_id=19&item_id=106477&locale=en_US&p_status

Basically if I can't make them change their minds on where I get to spend "my money", I'm stuck with one of those 3.

So out of those 3 which one would be better for 1 DVC 2Ohm or 4Ohm Alpine Type R? And if that expensive RF happens to be the best one, how much better is it than the other 2?

Sorry for all the questions, and thanks for the help.

i got a rockford punch P6002 amp to power my type r a while ago and the speaker connection went bad on it after 6 months... the punch series is at best a GOOD amp. not a great one. will your insurance company let you get anything off BestBuy.com? they have all kinds of options there

The thing is I'm not dealing with best buy directly. I'm dealing with there reclaim department. Which apparently is something different but the same. I have to go to their office and not BB store to get my stuff. I will have to ask him when I talk to him again, if I can order off there web site

You say they have good options on their web site? What would you recommend? Keep in mind I live in Canada. And this is all I can choose from
http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/subclass.asp?catid=20103&logon=&langid=EN

I guess I'm going to have to sweet talk this insurance lady into letting me buy from somewhere else. I would like to just go all Alpine or get a JL 500.1

yea wow you dont have much to work with... the rockford is the best choice there but definitly try to get something else. if they let you, they have alpine stuff on the US website that is pretty good. also, if possible, check out orion. they make really good mono amps.

Sweets she is just going to cut me a check.

Now I have to decide if I want:
http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_amps.php?amp_id=252

or
http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/products/product.php?model=MRP-M650

My gut says go with the JL, my wallet says take the Alpine.

Anyone know if i hooked that amp for 2Ohms to 1 Type R DVC 4Ohm, I wouldn't blow the sub? I have heard of people giving that sub lots of juice and things working nice. I just wanna double check.

Well not even 5 min after my last post I got a sweet deal, for the same price as the MRP-M650, I'm getting the MRP-M850.
http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/products/product.php?model=MRP-M850

So My new question is can 1 Type R DVC 4Ohm handle 800w RMS??

lol I hope so.

thats a bit much... i've had a type r blow on me before, be careful. i talked to a guy at a local shop today and he said that the wattage a type r can take depends on the amp. alpine makes better subs than amps, so if i were you i would look at others. check techronics.com and look at their selection, again i'm gonna recommend orion.

you can hook the type r 1242 at 2 ohms if you run the dvc parallel. when you add two 4 ohm sinks together you fool the amp to think that its one 2 ohm sink.

you could bridge this 2 channel and run your coils in series(4ohm) to get the max power at 600w
