I was looking to buy a massive 800.4 amp, but then I can across this.

It has the same watts...so why is it so cheap? Is it not good?

i think but could be wrong cuz the max power rating is 125x4 or 400x2, and the massive 800.4 is 200x4 rms, correct me if i'm wrong here guys.

It could be wrong....but my main question is

-if 2 amps put out the same wattage, what makes one better than the other and more expensive?

the NAME of it is a huge thing, it's a reputatino thing, some companies have a bad name and are know for the ratings to be off, but then you got companies that have a great name to new people like JL and they think its the greatest and will pay the 800 for an amp becaus eit says jl on it when you can really get almost the same thing for about 400 dollars less

Well, for one - you don't KNOW they put out the same power unless you have them bench tested.

One amp - let's say Profile might be rated at 100x2 rms at 4 ohms and cost $80. While a Fosgate has the same ratings but costs $160.

A bench test may show the Profile to produce 80x2 while the RF does 130x2.

Almost worth the price difference based solely on power.

Just as importantly - some amps are just better built than others. Tighter tolerances, better solder connections, better and more efficient designs, better controls, more versatility, etc.

There are plenty of differences to justify the different price ranges.

buy massive audio in this case. Why? because that's PG entry line.
