i bought a kicker sx 1250.1 and have a quick question. My HU, DEH-7800MP has 5v preouts, while the amp has 1v, 2v, 4v, 8v, and 16v input sensitivity which is basically the gain correct. Would i set it to 4v??

most head units dont put out the constant voltage they claim because most dont have a regulated power output. if u dont have the tools to test the output then u can set it by ear..turn your gain all the way down and put your head unit settings where u want them and put the volume at the loudest you would ever turn it...then slowly turn your gain up until you hear distortion then turn back a little bit..not the best way but it works

or buy a dmm and set it with that. you can get one for about $10-15 at sears, lowes, etc.

really the best way to do it is with on o-scope but the easyest and i prefer over a DMM because its more accurate is to set it by ear
