thats the hardest part to me at least. not all a reliable, and some are better, and you will never know until you do 1000+ hours of researching about them. and it seems i have not got to that point yet.

sooo.....

im powering a SI MAG 15"

im looking for 1000W RMS + some

and it needs to run AMAZING!

my first choice was the 20.1 and the sundown 1500 W one.

the reason for those is if i decide to get another MAG i can just run them at .5 ohm and they would still sing.

but those are looking a tad bit expensive.

and suggestions....or should i just stick it out with the sundown?

well nick and kevin have both told me the 15 is very efficiant and does not need alot of power to get loud.

so maybe look into orion 1200d or something that does 1000-1200rms at 1ohm.

the sundown may be a little much for one mag im not sure seeing as 1 is reccommend to run 2 mags. if your going to add another mag get the sundown and probly just set the gain with a dmm so it puts out a little less power.

well what's your budget? IF i get my mag i think i might get a arc audio 900.1d amp. 900wrms @ 1ohm but underrated and very good amp. only $460 shipped from arc audio. or if you can splurge my second choice would be a mmats d1600.1. 1150wrms @ 1ohm. another very nice amp but sorta pricey.

Based on Loyd's testing you *can* expect to have that kind of power from an SAZ-1500D @ 0.5 ohms if you can maintain 14.4 volts in your car.

Loyd measured 1615 watts at 11.8 volts and 1890 watts at 12.8 volts for a gain of 275 watts with an extra volt. If you add 1.6 more volts over 12.8 volts to get 14.4 volts and assume a linear increase you get 2330 watts. While a linear increase may be a bit optimistic, you can easily expect over 2000 watts on a 14.4 volt system at 0.5 ohms.

If you expect to maintain 14.4 volts, or anywhere close to it, with an SAZ-1500D running at 0.5 ohms you should expect to be running a 200+ amp alternator with at least a 1000 CA deep cycle battery on hand (preferably a deep cycle AND a primary battery together, or more) with a heavily upgraded under-hood wiring system and very large wiring from the battery(s) to the amplifier.

If you have any more questions let me know

Thanks,
- Jacob

amps are the "easiest" part in car audio.

Subs are the hardest because you need to hear them and depends on the SQ, SPL.

Amps are just watts, quality, low thd and high damping factor. hehe

quality is the BIG word :-) having QUALITY, and having that quality within ur budget range is harder than subs IMO. But subs are very difficult to chose from. because you always have 2-3 subs that you really want, but you dont know which ones to get

thats what i was talking about....the quality stuff....lol....

but it just seems there are lot more to amps than there is to subs.

there is a bigger selection of quality subs than quality amps..

to me it just seems a lot more....stressful...lol. to find a right amp, it has to be perfect. with in price (hard to come by)

i guess whe i comes down to it...it just goes back to:
"you get what you pay for"
