Hi, I'm new to the boards and have a question about amplifiers \ subwoofers.
I am looking into buying some 12" Kicker CompVR 05CVR124, but I notice they come in 4 ohm and 2 ohm dual voice coil.
I have heard that 2 ohms is the way to go, but I imagine most of the members on here are extremely skilled in car stereos. I am trying to figure out
A) 2 ohm or 4 ohm? and whats really the benefit of going either way?
B) What kind of amp would be ideal for this?

I have tried to research what the ideal set up would be but i just cant seem to come to any conclusion. It seems amps get more power set at 2 ohms, but it seems 4 ohms are a more popular choice.

I am going to set up 2 of these Kickers.
Basically, any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you.

the only difference between the dual 2 and 4ohm subs would be the wiring options. if you get the dual 4 you want to look for an amp that does 800-1000wrms at 1ohm. if you get dual 2 get an amp that does the same power at 2ohm.

for example, if you get the dual 2 ohm version get the kicker zx 750.1 amp

monoblock class D amps are more efficient and they're made for subs. 2 channels are usually class A/B, less efficient but they handle high frequency, that's why they can push tweeters, components, subs...

What about this amp?

That kicker amp is expensive.
Would kicker zx 750.1 really be much better than Power Acoustik Plasma TS1920-2 when the PA is like 120$ less?

first rule: You get what you pay for

Second rule: Do it right the first time.

If you're in a budget, then get power acoustik A1000DB, that's the cheapest amp you can get.

you think that the a1000db would be better than the kenwood?

yes i believe so. I've heard people running it at 1 ohm with no problems. Also kenwood has bad power supplies. Their quality is not good. I know power acoustik is not the best brand and their ratings can be weird or false, but that line is very good for the money and put some good power with decent quality.

Although if i were you i'd save more money and get the kicker
