I just got a .5 Farad monstercap, but the instructions that came with it are for the intellicap model. My question is... do I need to charge this cap or just hook it up? The instructions say to use a supplied 1/2 watt resistor, but this model didn't come with one. So I am assuming I can just hook it up, but don't want to blow anything.

are you talking about how to charge the cap??
if so, it should have came with some sort of resistor or usually a small light bulb. you hook the light bulb between the positive cap and battery post and a wire between the negitive cap and battery post. when the light turns off, its charged.

you don't want to directly short the cap and battery together, so some sort of resistance is needed.

I plugged mine in :P

I did it before I hooked the amp up, and yes like brandon says it's BAD to do it like I did... use the charging bulb
