2 Kicker L5 subs and I want a kicker amp, just don't know which one!!

New member Username: Trojan7Post Number: 1 Registered: Sep-06 | I just bought 2 12" kicker L5's in a box and I'm trying to decide which amp i should get...ive been looking at the ZX1000.1 and the KX1200.1 but I really don't know which Kicker amp would be best...ne help would be appreciated |

New member Username: Trojan7Post Number: 2 Registered: Sep-06 | they are dual 2 ohm... for the KX1200.1 RMS Power Output: 600W x 1 @ 2 Ohm and for the ZX1000.1 Power output: 500 watts RMS at 4 ohms(1000 watts of peak power at 2 ohms). I dont really get ne of this crap...lol |

Gold Member Username: Dustin3Tigard, OR U.S. Post Number: 3520 Registered: Oct-05 | lol. yea the kx1200.1 does 600 @ 2 ohms, and does 1200 @ 1 ohm. since ur l5's are DVC 2 ohm, (you use this woofer wiring config, www.the12volt.com) you can only wire the subs together for a 2 ohm load.. and since each sub is 600 watts rms,, you need an amp that does ~ 1200 @ 2 ohms. the kicker zx1000 will be nice |

Gold Member Username: Dustin3Tigard, OR U.S. Post Number: 3524 Registered: Oct-05 | no not realy. they are underrated also, so will do prolly around 1650-1700 @ 2... its important to know that overpowering it always bad, you need to keep your gain a lil bit down on the amp so that you wont clip or potentially blow your subs.. and also, with this set-up you are going to need a HO alternator (high output) so that you can keep sustained volage and current so that ur car would be able to power ur amp, along wit ur light, power windows etc etc |

Post Number: 1830 Registered: Feb-06 | the upgraded charging system? depending on the size of alt. i'd say $250-350, then you'll want to do the big 3, idk about $20-30 for the wires, if you do it yourself, and then maybe a newer battery, about $100-150, unless you go with a yellow top which are more expensive. |

But try to find out how many amps ur alterator is.. and when you hook everything up, and it seems like ur noit gettin enough current (or the alternator is not supplyin enough, aka dimmin lights ets,) you need a new alt. |
