you need a high output alternator before anything. cap wont do sh!t unless you have an alternator that can keep up.

I'm not a big fan of caps, but the "general rule" with caps is 1 Farad per 1,000 watts. In your case you would need a (hang on, lemme get out my calculator) 1.5 farad cap, since I have never heard of a 1.4 farad cap :-)

You could benefit from a HO alternator, but it may not be needed. You need to determine the current draw of your amps and the output rating of your alternator.

If you're trying to fix problems with a cap they are worthless to you, if your lights blink or your car bogs down under heavy system loads a cap will not help you. A HO alternator is good, but won't help as much as it can if your battery is shot and you're running it through a stock 8ga wire to the battery. You may just need to give your electrical system some TLC.

There's nothing wrong with a cap as such, it only becomes a problem when you attempt to fix problems with a cap that you should be addressing by fixing the electrical system.

cheers guys,

i havent yet hooked it all up, so i will, and see what happens, but the gerenal feeling i am getting here is that the cap would be pointless. if my car can handle the power then i wont need it and if the car cant then i need to look and the batt, alt, etc

thanks

Read up on GlassWolf's links. If you use the cap properly, it is useful.
