I have 2 ALpine Type-R which are 500 rms if I ran a Soundstream PCA1500D which is 1500 watts RMS @ 1 Ohm would I blow my subs?

i have no clue what that site would do for you, but yes, i wouldnt run 2 r's with that much power. but i have heard that they do well with a kx1200.1 which will do around 1400 so i dont know.

try lookin at some other amps

mb quart raa1000
hifonics 1206D
soundstream PCA1000
jl 1000/1

just to name a few

If I Keep the gain down low they should be fine then right?

there is never too much power...just set your gains right(or in an extreme case, a little less sensitive than line voltage) and adjust the sublevel on your HU.:-)
