common things to check are:

ground -- good connection

Gain is set CORRECTLY on the amp, should be set to the preout voltage of ur HU

wuts the rms on the sub and wuts the specs on the amp, rms specs

*** pre-out voltage

it should say in your manual, you must know it. look at some cd player on the net, and they all list its pre-out voltage

well i dont know if ti is me or not, but most of the people i know with kicker amps all say that they will cut off and then cut back on. so it might just be charging system. IMO

you can check it with a voltmeter, or you can just made sure itts a solid ground, with it securlly connected to the chasis of the vehicle, make sure its not connected the paint, is so, it needs to be sanded off, then put the ground wire on the BARE metal.

DMM is always a good way though
