Need answer before buying...will this amp power a 12w6?

Bronze Member Username: MhrxHayden, ID USA Post Number: 17 Registered: Aug-04 | I decided to go with a 12w6v2 for my truck, but I still don't know a lot about amplifiers. Will my amp power it to full potential? (the sub is 400 watt RMS power range) It's a lightning audio x1.400.2. I found these specs on it: Dual Channel Bridgable RMS Power at 4 Ohms 100 W x 2 RMS Power at 2 Ohms 200 W x 2 Probably not the best amp, but will it get the job done? What I get confused with is Ohms. The JL sub is a dual 4 Ohm, is my amp set up for this? Sorry if these are bad questions...I'm still learning, lol. thanks for the help |

Silver Member Username: StnorrisEldridge, IA US Post Number: 844 Registered: Apr-06 | a dual 4 ohm sub, will wire to 2 ohms on an amp. so thats means ur only choice is 200rms x 2. no this amp wont get the job done. it will be like wasting the sub. if you had the dual 2 ohm jl, you could wire it to 4 ohms though, and get 400rms. 100x2 @ 4 ohms 200x2 @ 2 ohms 400x1 @ 4 ohms |

Silver Member Username: StnorrisEldridge, IA US Post Number: 846 Registered: Apr-06 | yep. a perfect amp would be the phoenix gold 400.1. that will work perfect for dual 2 ohm or dual 4 ohm. u can get the amp for around 140 shipped off of ebay, and its a great amp. |
