Hi,

I have a L7 kicker sub and a 1200.1 kicker amp. I had it hooked up perfect and we were listening to it while driving for about 15 minutes. Then all the sudden i noticed the bass was off and there was smoke exiting the trunk. I pull over about 30 seconds later and I open the trunk and no smoke or nothing... Everying appears to be fine.

The amp has the protected light on and i replaced the inline fuse and still no change.

If anyone could tell me how to "reset" or what not the amp that would be awesome!

Thank You!

So i take it that it was the amp smoking not the sub?

also... i hear that they can over heat... Do u think this may be a problem (its in the trunk)

I take it that it is not a heating issue i can just wait for it to cool down?

also... i hear you can reset an amp possibly if you ground all the wires for discharge?

kicker amps rarely overheat. if they were to it would be because you wired it wronf or u have ur gain set to high. repairing it would be alot of money. and what kind of sub do you have and what is the VC config? because isnt the rms on that 750?

im sorry i dont understand what u mean by VC config but it is a 1200 watt Solobaric L7.

I might have set my gain too high which is why i think i am where i am lol.

Im not sure on the RMS though. :-(

Would you say im being retarded if i were to bring up the idea of resetting the amp?

as in draining all power and letting it sit.

Kicker amps are top notch in my book. I have a few Kicker sx1250.1 which are basically the same thing, it has never overheated nore gone over 110deg F on a 90deg day! I have also ran this amp on .5 ohm for a week with just a little addition of heat, thing is just bulletproof, IMO..Polo. :-)
