Nathan at excessive amperage is good! get 300, u wont ever have to worry about upgrading, prob going to be 1dollar per amp. so about 300 plus a lil more.

atleast 220 @ idle, u will have to ask him though.. cause it highly has to do with the casing.. large or small... large casing will cost more $$$

Im kinda a litte stuck on how alts work if a 225amp alt does 100amp at idle that means with the car idleling right?and it will do the 225amps at higher RPMs ?

"im kinda a litte stuck on how alts work if a 225amp alt does 100amp at idle that means with the car idleling right?and it will do the 225amps at higher RPMs ?" Joseph

correct, what its rated for @ idle, is the current it will put out @ idle. so if your car idles at 800RPM, u will get 100amps....
now if u hit the gas peddle to 2000RPM, u will get full output of 225amps, if thats what the alt is rated at!

so the more current @ idle is better, and important! I like to bass at traffic lights, and when Im stoped and car idleing, u know....

^^LOL^^ When people says their alt puts out 14.4v or something like that what does that mean?

14.4 is the voltage level, usually at the battery, that the car sits at. typically its about 13.8 at idle and 14.4 at 1500-2000 rpms and up.

it iwll vary though depending on the voltage regulator on the alternator.

On the big 3 upgrade the engine to chassis upgrade, do you find a bolt on the motor and then ground it to any metal part of the body?

find a bolt on the chassis or "metal part of the body" then grd it to the batt neg!!

I thought big three was
1. bat pos to alt pos
2. bat neg to chasis
3. chasis to engine block (not engine block to batt)

Heres my justification lol
http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=124175

Everyone there says its that...correct me if i'm/their wrong. This'll probably be a good thing to know when i go to do it in a week lol.

both are the same man... LOL
this is what I said above.....

find a bolt on the motor, then grd it to the batt neg!!
find a bolt on the chassis or "metal part of the body" then grd it to the batt neg!!
find pos back of alt, then add it to batt POS!!!

JOSH #3 & #2 are the same points.. both still GRND to NEG batt man!

it all depends on how much stuff you gonna have in the back! you should be fine doing that... but the bigger wires for the big 3 is best!!

Large casing or small it will not do 220A at idle. I ordered a large casing 300A amputator (Iraggi) Alt and with the smallest pulley it will run 155A at 750 rpm idle, 300A max. My alt cost me $485, $35 for a special bracket can't wait to get it in. B in your profile I am still trying to figure out how your 200A alt is running 200A @ idle, lol. You must be running an old Quadrajunk carburetor with a bad choke pull-off, lol...(Hi idle) :-O Polo..

umm, Nathan got me up to 200a @ idle. LOL the series 2 alternators look alot smaller to me...... my series 1 factory alt was big, but this new large case is huge!! the pictures show it NO justice.. Its way large than my factory! It took Nathan sometime, he also had me measure alot of stuff first, and take plenty plenty pictures...
The fuel injection idles @ about 900RPMs, if I BASS at idle, the RPM goes up to 1000RPM by itself.. It also has a tiny pulley, so it spins fast as fu(k!!! I also paid less than 300$
With the car runing, & my hand anywhere ova the engine, i can feel madd breeze coming from the alternator!! It really blows, and keeps itself cool too.

Good cuz in the future i plan on running 2 MT 15s off 2000+w each so i was hopeing i would be ok cuz i have no room to run dual alt. Would 1 Redtop under the hood and 1 Yellowtop in the back be enough to run that kind of power?

Ya but unless you are using an isolator, the trunk Yellow top will rob power from the Red top starting battery which does not have as many recoveries as the yellows so it will die first. Two yellow will last a long time as they will be matched. Polo..
