How big should I go with my power wire?

I've got an mrd-m1005 and a mrv-f345. They'll be putting out about 1400 rms combined, and I'm just going to run one power cable to the back to a dist. block, then run 4 guage to each amp. Should I just run 2 guage from the battery, or go with 1 or 0? I'd like to go a little bigger in case I add another sub amp down the road, or upgrade. Is there any drawbacks to using too big of a wire for the application?

4 ga will work fine.

^^^ 4 ga isn't quite enough, 1100 watts for a 15 foot run is the upper limit of 4 gauge, go with 2 guage or 1/0, and no too big of wire shouldn't hurt anything.

look at that page again: http://www.the12volt.com/info/recwirsz.asp

the maximum current (amps) that the wire sizes can pass... then use any fuse bellow the max amps the wire can pass, you will be ok.. ex 0ga 350, 300a fuse is ok.
