an audio battery is typically a deep cycle battery which will resist damage due to the voltage drops and current demands of an audio system, where a starter battery is usually a regular wet cell battery which is damaged easily.

i also think a starter battery will have a higher CCA rating then an audio battery.

can't think of anything else right now, but theres a thread in the acc forum about batteries.

I'm using an Optima Red Top starting battery to power my amp. HElps out alot, and like Brandon said, packs more CCA than most Audio batteries in that price range. It's also a drycell, so you can lay it anywhere and have to spilling worries. I would strongly recommend one if thats wat your looking for.
