Amplifier installation

Ok, so when you install an amp you want to make sure that the RCA cables and the power cables dont run on the same side of the car right?! Also the remote wire, does the length matter?

Also, my HU has 4V preouts and my amps gain has not numbers on it so I dont know where to set it, here is a picture of the gain(sort of small) can someone modify it and showme where to set it to.

usually not more then 3/4 of way up, and it depends on amp, best way is to turn amp all way down ,turn radio up just past normall listening mode, then adjust amp accordingly.

Also, does it matter what side the remote wire is on? Can it be by the power wire or by the RCA's?

with 4v pre outs it should be a lot closer to min than max.

Do this --
Put the gain at min. Put in a CD you like - set your HU volume to about 3/4 - increase the gain until the speakers/subs start to sound bad, then back the gain off 10% or so.

If it's set to high it can lead to speaker damage, setting it too low is not a problem. Better on the low side than high - no question.
