I have one of these amps and I have read that I need to get a subsonic filter or something like that. What is it and what does it do? Also, where would I buy one and are they easy to install?

subsonic filters serve two purposes.

one is to cut off frequencies below the tuned frequency of a ported or bandpass box to avoid the sub unloading and blowing itself up, and the other thing they do is prevent you from wasting energy trying to produce notes below the audible range that you won't hear anyway.

if you have a ported or BP box, set the filter to the same frequency as the port is tuned.
If the box is sealed, set it for 16-20Hz.

where can I get one? Im thinking about getting two SE 15's or an SX and I think im going to go ported because I like it to hit hard and I want it to compete with my previous system of two L5 12's.

www.partsexpress.com

search for "FMOD"
the 20hz HPF version would work for your needs.
