Should amp be on or off?

I'm in the process of switching out my old deck to a new one. and I realize that my amp is still connected to the battery. Since I got no deck in my car yet that means there's no remote wire hooked up to control the amp being on or off. so should the amp be constantly ON right now or is it supposed to be OFF (as it is right now)??.

thanks

It should be off. The wire that is connected straight to the battery is you actual power wire. The only thing the remote wire does, is it completes the circuit.

Its kinda like a light switch in your house. Sure the house is connected to the street, but the light in your room doesnt come on until you complete the circuit by flipping the switch.

Hope that helped.
