Difference between Mono and 2 channel amp

i was told if you want Mono could be broke into 2 connections i.e a 2 channel amp and a 2 channel amp could be used for 3 or 4 speakers true?

a mono amp will always be one audio "channel" (usually combined L+R) but you can run multiple subwoofers on a mono class D amplifier, yes.. by wiring them in series or parallel.
You can also run multiple speakers on each channel of a multi-channel amplifier, but any time you wire more than one speaker to a channel of an amplifier, it alters the impedance or load the amplifier sees.
