I am a newbie and was wondering if anyone can help me pick out an amp for 2 of my Alpine Type R 12 inch subs. These are 300 peak rms each. Any suggestions? Thank you

Are they dual voice coils(dual 2 or 4 ohm), and what is your budget?

It has dual 4ohm coils.. and my budget is around 500, but i also want it to not be big enough where i have to worry about blowing the subs. Thanks

That means your subs need a mono amp that pushes 1000wrms @ 1ohm

Now even though some of these are 1200wrms ,i would personally get 1 of those 1200 cause it allows headroom so your amp doesn't have to be @ full power to get u the needed 1000wrms ......

Wait a second , now rereading your email , u said your subs are '300 peak rms each' - i checked for type Rs b4 i rec in above post & type Rs are rated @ 500wrms .

U sure of what u got or is it type S (is rated @ 300wrms) that u have ?

Is this is the type R u have ????

hes most likely got the 04 model ... they cant really take 500 watts well.. the most id give them is 400 each amd with that price range u have alot of options.. this doesnt mean u cant get a 1000 watt amplifier its always good to go bigger.. just have to be real careful with the gains
