Hello guys.
I just got two 1230W Infinity 12' subs (rated 300W RMS @ 4Ohm, 1230W peak) and now Im looking for a decent amp to power the subs.
I have a budget of $400-$450 for the amp and, maybe, capacitor.

Please, if you have any idea what would be best for these subs, help me out :-) Thanks!

Thanks, but I understand thats a mono one, so I would have to buy 2 of them, which is over my budget a bit. Thanks anyway! Keep the ideas coming :-)

Well actually a mono amp is compatible with two subs. You just run the subs in parallel to the amp. Simple as that, and you'll get your 300W RMS to each sub with no problem.

Yeah I was thinking about that at some point, but isnt there any distortion, or noice, or SOME KIND of sound deformation when using two subs on a mono amp?

Thanks, btw!

hey booba, i have 2 infinity perfect dvc subs. i have them in parallel and in mono. if they had a phoenix gold xenon 900 watt mono amp then that's what i'd be pushing. there are other quality amps, but i just recomende what i would've chose if i were you. sounds like you have the refrence subs so you wouldn't need as much power. xenon amps are top notch. and about the distortion/noise thing, mono amps are made for subs. mono doesn't mean distortion/noise.....

Booba,

My advice to you, speaking from experience, get a McIntosh Laboratories power amplifier. Look at the MC301M, it puts out 600 rms @ 2 ohms ( www.mcintoshlabs.com ) and I promise you that it will smoke the PG Xenon. It is well worth the price difference and the wait.

Sincerely,

Thanks for you answer guys. From all amps I found ALPINE MRD-M1005 to be more elegant, because it's looks matter for me too. So what do you think about this amp?

Nice amp, but it would be overpowering the heck out of those subs. Either get more powerful subs, like some Type R's (500w RMS, I use one in a sealed box, and it's pleasing) or you could get a less powerful amp.

I will not be getting it then, thanks! :-)
So basically, to summarize the thread, I should buy the mono amp which can run with at least 300W @ 2Ohm (connect subs in parallel). Correct?

What if an amp is "overpowering" the subs? Is that a bad thing? Im a sub-noob, Im sorry :-)

Actually you would be looking for an amp that can do 600W @ 2 Ohm.

2 single voice coil subs @ 4 ohms wired in parralel make 2 ohms.

Same thing i told the guy & even went through the trouble or picking some amps for him .

From what i read somewhere, overpowering as much as 20% over won't kill it , just do over do it like get a 1000wrms amp .
Those amps i pointed out are perfect for what u need .
Take a read here www.bcae1.com for general info .
