My amp cuts out when bass hits

Unregistered guest
hi i have a Pioneer GM-X624

i run a pair of 6x9s of it that are 100rms 400max. The amp should run 120rms x2 and 240max
this is in the specs.

when i turn them up it plays until some bass hits and then seems to turn off for a second then turn back and continue like this until i turn it down.

is this going to wreck my speakers and whats causing this?
the amp isnt new but i sont think it is faulty
please help

sounds like you are clipping the amp really hard.

turn the gains down a little.

its not very loud and sounds perfect until they just cut out. what does clipping actually sound like?

gain on the amp may be too high. how far up is it turned?
may also be a lack of current due to a weak alternator.

could also be a loose ground wire or poor connections.
the amp's power is run directly to the battery right? not to the fuse box or something like that?

everyhting is connected secure. yeah it goes straight to battery. i have turned the lights on and tryed to see if they dim and they dont seem to. i do have a smallish battery though. i originally put it up to where it says normal. could you please give me some advise as how to "tune" the gain?

don't turn it any higher than one quarter turn for starters. www.bcae1.com has guides to gain setting
so does jlaudio.com
