Soon I'm getting a Hifonics 1605D class d 1600 RMS @ 1 ohm amp. Running 2 aw1200q's.

I drive a 92' mazda 929.
I have an old 4awg kit.

What do I need to assure plenty of clean power?
Larger than 100 amp inline fuse?
Do I really need another batt or cap?

I'm a bit of a beginner,
thanks

is that your only amplifier in the system?
1600 watts RMS is going to mean about 160A of current draw at full output.
you'll need a high output alternator rated for at least 200A, you'll need 1/0AWG power cable for the "big 3" and battery to amplifier, you'll also want to replace the stock battery in the car with a deep cycle like the optima yellowtop or similar.
that's about the only way you'll get clean power for that setup at high volume

Thanks Glasswolf,

I checked out sounddomain.com for more info
on the "big 3". I'll need to disassemble some stuff but it's seems like a need now.

I've got a new heavy duty battery but the alternator I was afraid of, If I clean up the wirung it might be ok.

I'll end up getting a 2 farad cap before an alternator.

Thanks

Caps are just a band-aid fix. get the alt, it'll be money well spent. Check out Glasswolfs website www.wickedcases.com and look what it says about caps.

well, the big three thing only helps if your car is so old that the wiring is corroded or worn down, or if you replace the alternator with a larger, higher current unit.
otherwise the factory wiring is able to handle all of the current the stock alternator can supply.

capacitors don't replace the need for an alternator..

those explain why
