OK guys right now i have 1 12 inch Alpine Type R sub , a 920 watt AMP and a pioneer deck. It runs fine and everything but i just wanted to know if i should use 4 gauge wire instead of 8 gauge wire. cause i noticed that my amp gets really hot like hot enough to burn yourself sometimes. so i was thinking about getting new wire but i just wanted to see what you guys thought plz let me know. Thanx

Your amp getting hot has nothing to do with power wire.
I'm guessing that's not a real 920w amp. Most likely a peak power number right? If so, then 8 gauge is good enough. If you plan on getting more powerful amp in the future, then 4gauge upgrade would be a wise choice.
As for your amp's heat, check your gain/level setting. Make sure it matches your HU's preout voltage. Also, do not exceed the amp's minimum ohm requirement.
Those 2 are the main causes of amp overheating.
