Will there be a difference in bass?

Alright follow me on this one. I have 2 12' subs that are both 350RMS. I am powering them with a 900 RMS amp. My question is if I get 2 12' subs that are 400RMS each and power them with the same 900RMS amp, will it sound any louder or will it make any difference?

i'd say it all depends on the subs. wattage-wise you'll be fine.

depends on the paremeters of the subwoofers.. if the 2 subwoofers were the same lets say.. but one set had better power handling and u powered the 400 rms subs with the same amp there would be no difference.. the rms numbers for the subwoofers are a thermal rating for the voice coils before they will get damaged.. however if the new subwoofers have higher excursion levels (xmax) mainly .. depends on other factors as well .. you will probably notice an increase in spl... the easiest way to create more spl with the subs you have would be to make a ported box if you havent already done so.. would give u an average increase of 6 db.. list the names of the subs and amps next time so we can help a lil more

"would give u an average increase of 6 db"

More like 3 db's. 6 db's is quite a bit, it's more than you think.
