Mono Block Amps?

Is there anyone who could give me a really educated definition of a mono block amp and what it does? What's the difference in a standard Class D Amp and a mono block amp?

most class D amps are monoblocks.
a monoblock by definition is just a single channel amplifier, with dedicated power supply and isolated circuitry, as opposed to stereo amps that share some of the components for both channels.
some stereo amps are "monoblock" in that they are two isolated single channel amps in one case.
