Why doesnt the 12w7 handle around 750 up to 1000 why would I under power it and the 13 around 1000 up to 2000? So wouldnt I want a 1000 watt for the 12 and 1500 for 13 so I can play with the gain and bass boost.
gain and boost ton't have any effect on the power output of the amplifier.
set the gains *properly*
the 500/1 for a 12W7 and 1000/1 for the 13W7 are JL's recommended pairing. the 500/1 puts out around 670Wrms, and the 1000/1 puts out around 1200-1400Wrms. the amplifiers are both severely underrated. look at JL's site for recommended power handling. giving the 13W7 2Kwatts will void it's warranty and won't give any significant gain. you'll already be at mechanical Xmax.

im gettin a 12 w7, what brand amp do you guys recomend. i already have a rockford fosgate punch 500, would that one be alright.
