I just installed a new 200 amp alternator on my bronco and im running 3000w rms (6000 max) and my battery gauge still drops when my system hits , is this normal? I plan on getting a cap in the near future but I figured the alt would help a little more than it did. pre-thanks

I rewired it using 4 gauge but havent grounded it with 4ga yet , my buddy told me that my ground may be keeping it from its full potential. anyone got an idea?

3000 watts draws 300 amps of current when at max volume so its not enough

ok anyone can help with this. I am running 2 jl 500/1's that come up to 100amps + a ppi pcx 2200 that does 80amps. So the total whould come to 180amps. I will be using 1000 watts RMS from the JL amps total and 400 watts rms from the ppi amp and that whould come up to 1400 watts RMS total for the system. What size alternator whould be ideal???

1400/12 =116.666666666666 and so on. you would be more than fine with a 200 amp.

and skrilluh if you are running 3000 rms true watts you are running 250. 4 guage is not thick enough wire for you. You need a 300 amp alternator plus 0 guage wire and also you need to redo your grounds to your alternator, battery, and your engine block.

Ok james. The biggest that www.mralternator.com has for my toyota camry 97 is 150amp. I will be using a xstatic batcap battery in the trunk instead of any caps.
